Capital Equipment Project Manager - Fulltime - South Market Capital Projects

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under minimal direction and supervision, project manages the acquisition, planning, design, implementation strategy, scheduling and installation of medical equipment needs for capital design and construction projects across Henry Ford Health. This role will work directly with construction project managers and in partnership with HFH's Medical Equipment Management & Maintenance provider to ensure holistic capital approach to medical equipment planning for the organization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Represents the Capital Projects Systems and Sourcing Department in a positive manner to the Health System, customers, vendors, as well as patients and families.

  2. Project manages the acquisition, planning, design, implementation strategy, scheduling and installation of capital equipment for construction projects.

  3. With minimal supervision, this position is the primary point of contact within Capital Equipment Planning for all building construction, installation pertaining to all medical equipment planning for Capital Construction Projects requiring collaboration with other stakeholders.

  4. Works with Sourcing, Purchasing, Facilities, IT, Design & Construction, HFH engaged Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and other consultants to plan the project and identify medical equipment capital replacement, repurposing and decommissioning needs in accordance with the project roadmap.

  5. Collaborate with HFH's Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), Medical Equipment Management & Maintenance providers (Trimedx) and Sourcing on the strategy and purchase of capital equipment.

  6. Attends regular project meetings and monitors progress to ensure timelines are being met.

  7. Coordinates with project managers, clinical engineering managers, and other stakeholders to ensure equipment inventory reports that list all equipment for the project is maintained to ensure data outcomes are met.

  8. Collaborate with other stakeholders to assess the organization's capital equipment needs based on operational requirements, long-term goals and upcoming construction projects

  9. Coordinate with various departments (e.g., finance, operations, clinical teams) to determine equipment specifications and purchase requirements.

  10. Work with architects, engineers, and construction companies to plan and implement the equipment needs of capital construction projects.

  11. Evaluate vendors and support the negotiations of contracts for capital equipment purchases, leases, and services with strategic sourcing.

  12. Prepare, track, and manage project's capital equipment budgets, ensuring costs are aligned with organizational priorities and financial constraints.

  13. Monitor and report on equipment expenditures, ensuring cost efficiency and return on investment (ROI).

  14. Analyze financial data to support decision-making on equipment replacements, upgrades, or repairs as needed for construction projects.

  15. Ensure that all capital equipment meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  16. Work with compliance and safety teams to guarantee that equipment meets health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  17. Prepare for audits and inspections related to capital equipment for construction projects.

  18. Use data to support strategic planning, including the forecasting of future equipment needs.

  19. Assist with the data entry into PeopleSoft system (ERP) to order required equipment.

  20. Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Management, Healthcare Administration, Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology, Science or other related field is required or 7 years equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree
  • Five years of capital equipment acquisition and contract management oversite.
  • Three years in Clinical Engineering.
  • Previous experience managing moderate to complex construction and/or medical equipment installation projects.
