PV Design Engineer - Utility Solar

PV Design Engineer leads project design activities, ensuring high-quality, compliant and optimized engineering deliverables. This role creates and manages utility-scale layouts, design details & energy modeling, refines standards, and collaborates cross-functionally with varies departments to support project success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVCase, PVSyst, Excel and SAM to create Utility-scale design packages including layouts, SLD/3LD, wire take-offs, AC/DC groupings, voltage drop calculations, and 3D models for energy modeling.

+ Lead and review design deliverables across project portfolios, ensuring quality control and adherence to CS Energy and client standards and specifications.

+ Review project RFPs, SOWs, technical specs, interconnection documents, LV and MV equipment selections, vendor drawings, and quotes to guide technical direction in designs.

+ Equipped with advanced knowledge of electrical design specific to Utility scale PV projects, with a strong understanding of civil and structural engineering concepts related to project designs.

+ Review existing design, evaluate performance, and provide value engineering options. Implement best practices by enhancing existing design standards, checklists, and engineering tools.

+ Conduct LCOE analyses and optimize designs for cost, schedule, and constructability.

+ Collaborate with procurement, business development, and operation teams to align designs with project goals.

+ Communicate technical concepts clearly via emails, meeting notes, and clarifications.

+ Manage and maintain design document organization, ensuring folder structure and naming conventions are followed.

+ Attend internal and external meetings, represent the team, and promote company core values.

Requirements

+ Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVSyst, Excel and SAM. PVcase is a plus.

+ Strong foundation in electrical design. Strong civil and structural knowledge is a plus.

+ Skilled in reviewing and validating internal and external designs, demonstrating strong critical thinking and attention to details.

+ Familiarity with NEC standards, solar PV industry best practices, and design optimization techniques.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project deliverables and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

+ Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
