Scalehouse/Equipment Operator- Bozeman Convenience Site

This position is responsible for providing customer service, cashiering, monitoring, and processing customers through the facilitys scale house at the Bozeman Convenience Site. The position includes the operation of a CAT 305 Mini-Excavator to compact and place bulky waste in roll-boxes to maximize volume and space. Assists with the collection and management of a variety of municipal solid waste, household hazardous waste program, green waste and bulky wastes disposed of at the facility. Performs a variety of facility and site maintenance duties including snow/ice removal, litter clean up, scale building maintenance and assists with special projects assigned by supervisor. The position reports to the Assistant Operations Manager and does not supervise other personnel.This position requires knowledge and skills in customer service cashiering, record keeping, basic office equipment operations, and operation of light and medium duty equipment including mini-excavators, skid steers, and snow/ice removal equipment. Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Knowledge and skills in the use of computers, printers, software systems and email communications are preferred. The position also requires the ability to lift-up to 50 pounds consisting of full boxes of scale tickets, paper, facility records, bulky waste items, HHW/oil/antifreeze waste containers, and litter bags. Must be able to monitor and maintain safety protocols, work effectively under adverse site conditions, and coordinate tasks and procedures with others. Experience and knowledge with state and federal solid waste rules and regulations is preferred.The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma plus two (2) years of experience in retail or customer service, cashiering, office operations, light and medium duty equipment operations, or related field.

Licenses and Certifications : Applicant must possess a valid drivers license issued by the state of Montana or obtain a valid Montana drivers license within six months of hire and be insurable under the Countys liability policies. Safety task training and certification for First Aid/AED/CPR and 24 HAZWOPER with be provided during the first year of employment. As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.
