Job Summary

Oversee the NH3 department, Ammonia Refrigeration systems, electrical systems, compressed air systems, waste water treatment systems and other infrastructure areas within all plant facilities. .

Position Responsibilities

  • Advanced knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems in food processing plants.
  • Responsible for asset reliability to reduce downtime and assure peak plant efficiencies. Complete capital engineering design and projects with coordination with corporate engineering, production and to support contractors and vendors
  • Direct responsibility for the refrigeration team and their performance
  • Comply with all current and future Safety, HACCP, GMP and Food Safety Procedures.
  • Comply with all PSM/RMP regulations
  • Participate and maintain Process Safety Management Program.
  • Coordinate work with outside contractors
  • Help perform major and minor repairs on Utility Equipment (Boilers, Ammonia Refrigeration, HVAC, Air Compressors, Fire Retention Systems and Cooling Towers).
  • Train, motivate and direct employees to follow safe work methods and standards
  • Oversee the purchase of supplies and repair parts with regard to quality
  • Support the plant's safety program.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety regulations and standards

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical engineering or other technical degree program. Strongly preferred
  • Need 2 years experience in utilities with an emphasis in HVAC/R, Controls or Electrical. Can pass RETA CARO exam within 90-days.
  • 2-4 years in NH3 with RETA CARO Certification - Ideal.
  • 3years of previous NH3 required.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • Experience in food manufacturing environment.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience with Preventative Maintenance programs. Knowledge of Electronic and Electrical principals
