Performs all aspects of operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and/or installation of mechanical systems, including but not limited to plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, building management systems, fire sprinklers, irrigation, water distribution utilities, gas utilities, wastewater handling facilities and some appliances.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Starts up, operates, shuts down, winterizes, and weatherproofs all systems as required by Keeneland’s operating schedule.
Performs preventative maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, replacement or new installation of the following equipment and facilities.
Commercial building plumbing systems including fixtures, water supply and drainage systems, sewage pumps and controls, sewer mains and manholes.
- Farm building and barn plumbing systems including freeze resistant hydrants, drains water troughs, etc.
- Electric and natural gas water heaters of various sizes.
- Commercial heating and air conditioning systems of various types and sizes ranging from ½ ton to 350 tons, including gas/electric, and heat pumps.
- Commercial electric air-cooled water chillers, pumps, and controls for comfort cooling.
- Commercial gas and electric heating boilers for water and steam systems including associated pumps, valves, traps, air handlers and controls.
- Commercial ventilation systems including rooftop and inline exhausters, cooking hoods, and exhaust fans, unit economizers, make-up air units and agricultural exhaust fans.
- All ductwork, insulation, registers dampers, and grills associated with HVAC installation.
- Automatic sprinkler systems for fire protection including air compressors, pumps pressure regulators, alarms, and sprinkler heads.
- Computerized fire alarm panels and alarm initiating devices.
- Computerized HVAC building automation system (Trane Summit, SC & Ensemble)
- Irrigation systems for turf course, lawns and ornamental plants which includes water storage tanks, pumps, automatic controls, underground mains, zone valves and sprinklers.
- Underground water distribution mains, valves, fire hydrants, truck fill stations and back flow preventers.
- Gas distribution systems including underground mains, pressure regulators and valves and building piping.
- Wastewater handling facilities including pump station and controls, holding tank, overflow lagoon and aeration system.
- Plant facilities, including fans and building mechanical systems.
- Residential plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and appliances.
- Be on call one week a mouth for after hour problems and emergencies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Two years of technical training and / or four to five years of HVAC/Plumbing experience. This position requires a high degree of skill and proficiency in the mechanical trades as well as a good working knowledge of Electrical systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and understand HVAC and plumbing installation, operation, and maintenance manuals. Ability to interpret electrical schematic and wiring diagrams.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Driver’s License, Kentucky Journeyman HVAC & Plumbing License. A Kentucky Horse Racing Authority License is required for all track workers provided upon hire by Keeneland.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to make accurate measurements as well as calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
OTHER SKILLS
Familiarity with Windows computer operating system. Must be able to work independently, without supervision.
