Title: HVAC/Utilities engineer
Location: Lake County IL (100% Onsite)
Duration: 8+ Months
Payrate: $50/hr - $53/hr
Work shift (days/times) – 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Number of Interviews - (recommend minimizing) – 2-3
Top 3-5 skills needed – Mechanical engineering experience with utilities (Chilled water/steam distribution and HVAC field devices)/ Construction Management
Responsibilities:
The HVAC/Utilities engineer will play a hands-on role in troubleshooting, and upgrading HVAC and utility systems within a facility. This position is split between troubleshooting existing systems and supporting facility infrastructure upgrades and capital projects.
Key responsibilities include:
• Diagnosing and resolving issues with HVAC control systems, alarms, and utilities.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of pneumatic actuators, steam systems, and HVAC alarms to ensure operational reliability.
• Responding to system failures and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Supporting HVAC control unit and steam system upgrades, ensuring proper installation and integration.
• Assisting with facility infrastructure improvements, including utilities and HVAC system upgrades.
• Collaborating with project teams to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Providing technical support for control system modifications and commissioning activities.
• Working directly in the field to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues (not just reviewing drawings).
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and facility safety regulations.
• Documenting troubleshooting processes, system upgrades, and modifications for future reference.
Qualifications:
• Strong technical expertise in HVAC utilities, control units, and steam system upgrades.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC alarms and automation components.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system sequences.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system optimization.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams, technicians, and facility staff.
