The Technical & Safety Trainer is responsible for leading all technical and safety-related training activities within the plant. This role ensures employees are effectively trained, certified, and compliant with operational standards, company policies, and OSHA safety regulations. The ideal candidate is skilled in adult learning methodologies and can translate complex safety and operational procedures into clear, hands-on training experiences.

• Design and deliver technical and safety training programs to ensure employees are prepared to perform their jobs safely and effectively aligned with operational and safety goals.
• Lead and certify operators training for forklifts, overhead cranes, and other specialized equipment, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate OSHA-required and company-specific safety training, including Lockout/Tagout, PPE, hazard communication, and other key topics in partnership with our safety team.
• Develop and maintain training documentation, including checklists, testing materials, and evaluation tools that demonstrate training progress.
• Utilize data and metrics to assess effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and on-the-floor observations; make recommendations to leaders to address skill gaps and drive performance improvements.
• Support the EH&S team in implementing new safety initiatives and ensuring workforce readiness.
• Lead the evaluation and training improvements that support employee skill development and safety awareness while communicating training goals updates and compliance status to relevant stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to leverage data insights to influence business strategies and outcomes to promote a culture of safety and continuous learning across the plant.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical, safety, or training-related field preferred.
• 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing, safety training, or technical instruction.
• Certified to train and certify forklift and/or crane operators (or ability to obtain certifications).
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and general manufacturing safety practices.
• Experience creating training materials, administering assessments, and managing training records.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS)

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
