The Cabinet Drafter and Shop Manager is responsible for creating all cabinet project drawings and managing the cabinet building process. This role is critical to creating cabinet designs and translating customer needs to the production floor.
Job Responsibilities:
Meets with customers to measure their home remodel project to ensure exact measurements are taken for the project design
Creates and modifies project diagrams in Mozaik software using plans, specifications, calculations, and knowledge of materials
Provides work instructions, technical drawings, cut lists and other production documents
Assists the Sales Team with design to include planning, preparing, reviewing, and redrafting
Recommends cabinet layouts, and designs that appeal to clients and minimize production costs
Master of refined cabinetry and finish carpentry skills using hand tools and machinery
Supervise and mentor shop team to promote collaboration and achieve project objectives effectively
Efficiently allocate materials and equipment to maximize productivity and minimize waste
Responsible for overseeing that all shop equipment is maintained and serviced
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to address challenges proactively, ensuring the smooth progress of the project
Monitor shop expenses, keep inventory lists and implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship and client satisfaction
Collaborate with our network of vendors and suppliers to source high-quality materials, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations to create a safe work environment for all project team members
Ensure quality inspection of all materials prior to delivery to customers
Other projects and tasks assigned as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
MUST HAVE at least 3 years of experience drafting in manufacturing, construction, or related areas
MUST HAVE at least 3 years of experience working with cabinet design preferred
Experience with design software required, Mozaik experience highly preferred
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across departments and meet deadlines
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail to ensure precision and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle
Shop knowledge and working with relevant scheduling, budgeting, and reporting practices
English language fluency and comprehension required
Education and Requirements:
High School Diploma or the equivalent (for example, GED)
Bachelors degree or Trade School in relevant field preferred
Work Hours and Benefits:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Full-time, Nonexempt
