The College of Staten Island (CSI), City University of New York (CUNY), Office of Workforce Development & Innovation (Workforce Development) seeks a part-time instructor to deliver evening instruction and hands-on training in our newly developed Electrical Technician Program. The program is aligned with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and offers students the opportunity to earn nationally recognized credentials. This position involves hands-on training within a classroom setting preparing adult learners for entry-level employment in the electrical trades.

Responsibilities Include:

+ Deliver classroom and lab-based instruction using NCCER Level 1 and Level 2 Electrical Technician curriculum

+ Ensure course content is taught in compliance with NCCER standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices

+ Administer, proctor, and score NCCER module tests and hands-on performance profiles

+ Maintain accurate records of student attendance, module completion, assessments, and credentialing progress within the LMS

+ Work collaboratively with the program team and student support staff to identify and address barriers to student success

+ Participate in instructor training, professional development, and required NCCER certification (Instructor Certification Training Program ICTP) if not already certified

+ Maintain classroom/lab materials and communicate equipment needs to program leadership

+ Support broader program goals including career readiness and apprenticeship placement pathways

+ Other duties as assigned

Location: College of Staten Island Office of Workforce Development & InnovationSchedule: Hybrid, 9 hours/week (Evenings: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 6:309:30 PM)

Qualifications

Required:

+ Minimum four (4) years of professional experience as a licensed or journey-level electrical technicianORThree (3) years of teaching experience in an accredited vocational or technical training program in electrical construction or maintenance

+ OSHA 30 certification

+ Basic computer skills, including Zoom and the ability to teach in virtual or hybrid environments as needed

+ Strong communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to student success and equity in workforce development

+ High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

+ Associate degree or higher in Electrical Technology, Engineering, or a related field

+ NCCER Instructor Certification (or willingness to complete required training prior to program start)

+ Experience in adult education or workforce training programs

+ Excellent organizational and project management skills

+ Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS)

+ Fire Guard G-60, SST, or other NYC-recognized safety certifications

+ Experience working with underserved populations or in community-based education programs
