Medical Device Staff Electrical Engineer

This position is independently responsible for major portions of complex projects. In addition, the standard Bayer Core Competencies and Life Values also apply in the evaluation of your suitability for placement into this role classification.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will define requirements for design elements at the module level and be responsible for the design and integration of high complexity electronic design elements and modules. You will apply your understanding of product line and clinical applications to develop product or process functionality and interact with customers. Understanding interdependencies of processes required to accomplish individual and team objectives, you will support process definition and improvements. You will lead design reviews of projects and modules and perform duties as an independent reviewer. Expanding efforts to complex system-level designs, you will independently plan and manage your work activities to meet project objectives. Leading cross-functional teams on projects of significant scope at the module level, you will provide technical consulting, leadership, and advice to peers and program management. You will identify and sustain supplier and partner relationships, develop, communicate, and manage objectives to cross-functional team members, and proactively communicate relevant information and needs to project leads and development management.

This position is based on-site at our Indianola, PA facility. We will consider candidates that are planning on relocating to the area themselves, but relocation is not being offered as part of offer for position.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define requirements for design elements at the module level;

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical discipline with 7 years of applicable work experience OR Master's Degree in relevant discipline with 4 years of work experience OR PhD with 0 years of work experience may also be acceptable, with supporting academic technical experiences;
  • Demonstrated expert within Electrical Engineering discipline, with knowledge across breadth of discipline and significant depth in one or more technical specialties;
  • Demonstrated strong analog and digital design and troubleshooting skills;
  • Experience with microcontrollers, PLDs, switching power converters, and servo control systems preferred;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated systematic, analytically based approach;
  • Technical breadth with cross-functional design experience across several engineering disciplines (software, mechanical, high speed digital, small signal analog, digital signal processing, EMC, etc.);
  • Demonstrated experience in using worst case analysis to ensure designs meet performance and manufacturability requirements;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the technical aspects of complex design projects;
  • Excellent oral, written, and listening skills;
  • Demonstrated high-performance orientation, project achievement, and very strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent persuasion and consensus building and the ability to work in cross-functional teams;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage partnerships and implement change;
  • Proven sound judgment, values-driven, continuous innovation and improvement and adaptability skills;
  • Self-directed attitude towards organization and prioritization of work assignments;
  • Proficiency with schematic entry tools - preferably Orcad;
  • Proficiency with circuit analysis tools desired;
  • Proficiency with mathematical analysis tools - preferably Mathcad;
  • Demonstrated skill in both analysis of complex problems and synthesis of solutions;
  • Able to use a blend of theoretical and experimental concepts for solutions;
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment in technical trade-offs and analyses;
  • Working knowledge and proven skills of PC computer operating system including Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Knowledge of standards and equipment for Electrical Safety and EMC testing (IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, or similar) preferred;
  • Experience obtaining Safety and EMC compliance certification preferred.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $96,040.00 - $144,060.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
