Fire Alarm Field Supervisor - Installation

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Reports To: Field Operations Manager

The Field Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting fire alarm installation crews on new construction and renovation projects. This role ensures high-quality, code-compliant installations delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in fire alarm system installations, team leadership, field coordination, and code knowledge, with the ability to manage multiple job sites and foster a productive, safety-focused field culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily field operations for fire alarm system installations across multiple construction sites, ensuring projects stay on schedule, within scope, and to code.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, engineers, and operations staff to ensure clear understanding of project scope, sequencing, and material needs.
  • Verify installations are completed according to design drawings, company standards, NFPA 72, NEC (NFPA 70), and applicable building codes.
  • Participate in project DRILL meetings and provide field input to support accurate project design and planning.
  • Mentor and guide field technicians and apprentices, providing on-the-job training and real-time feedback to build field capabilities and ensure quality craftsmanship.
  • Conduct site visits and walkthroughs to assess progress, ensure work aligns with project expectations, and address issues promptly.
  • Lead jobsite safety efforts, enforce safety protocols, conduct safety audits, and ensure all team members comply with company and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, including manpower tracking, daily reports, and project progress updates.
  • Support and facilitate new hire onboarding and field orientation, ensuring employees understand company expectations, safety practices, and jobsite procedures.
  • Serve as a key communication link between the field and office, keeping management informed of issues related to labor, productivity, scheduling, safety, and quality.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professionalism among all installation team members.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
  • NICET Level III in Fire Alarm Systems (or equivalent experience) required.
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and IBC codes.
  • Demonstrated experience performing service and inspection work and completing field reports.
  • Strong working knowledge of inspection software and digital documentation tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service focus and a proactive problem-solver.
