We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the local pay range for this position, which is the starting rate of $35.57 per hour plus This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of eligible earnings based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position, is $81,385. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

We are looking for motivated a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in our Wheatfield, NY location. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and building systems to ensure optimal production efficiency and workplace safety. This role requires a hands-on problem-solver who can respond quickly to breakdowns and work proactively to minimize equipment downtime.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Essential Functions Include:

- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections to identify potential equipment issues before they lead to failures. Checks machinery to ensure proper functioning. Performs overall visual inspection. Listens for sounds that might indicate problems. Services gear boxed, reservoirs. Lubricates, greases, and oils all equipment. Maintains records of PM maintenance work. Small engine repair. Mechanical engineering. Training operators on new machines.

- Machine Repair: Perform troubleshooting and repair on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment, including motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, air and water lines, valves, PLCs, etc. Works with operator to identify & solve equipment/machine problems that effect product quality. Repairs or fabricates parts as needed. Performs welding operation to repair machines. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment using technical manuals as guidelines. Tears down/rebuilds worn out components. Welding: Designs &/or fabricates new parts, or repairs broken parts as required. Perform gas or arc welding as required.

- Pipe Fitting: Runs air lines or water lines. Welds pipe for low-pressure lines. Rebuilds hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and valves. Sets up regulator systems. Pressure tests systems. Modifies existing systems and installs new systems. Make hydraulic hoses and lines. Repairs and replaces fluid valves and actuators. Repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings

- Carpentry: Performs general building repairs. Performs interior and exterior painting. Remodels and/or builds offices.

- Document maintenance activities and record machine histories. Monitor inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies, and order and/or request replenishment when necessary.

- Coordinate with production supervisors and engineers to ensure maintenance tasks do not interfere with production schedules.

- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

- Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety standards. Follows standard operating procedure for safe operations. Responds to work orders for malfunctioning safety equipment. Repairs and malfunctioning safety devices. Installs safety devices. Wears protective equipment as required. Operates forklift truck & other equipment in a safe & efficient manner.

- Housekeeping: Cleans shop. Checks tools to ensure proper working order. Must be able to work unsupervised, efficiently and safely. Must work safely and independently. Wears required safety equipment, hearing protection, safety shoes, and safety glasses. Follow lockout/tag out procedures, as necessary. Uses all safety devices associated with equipment. Keeps work area in order and clean per company 5S standards.

Essential Qualifications:

- A High School Diploma/GED is required, with courses in mechanical drawing, electricity, wood working, blueprint reading, science, mathematics preferred.

- Maintenance Experience in a manufacturing environment for 3+ years is required.

- Journey Papers are preferred.

- Technical Certificate/ Associates Degree in Electrical Construction & Maintenance, or related field is preferred.

Practical/Technical Knowledge:

- Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is required.

- Must be able to interpret and update blueprints, schematics, machine manuals and drawings.

- Basic welding and fabrication skills are preferred.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are required.

- Proficiency with hand and power tools is required.

- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks is required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills are required.

- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is required. Must have basic computer skills - proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with MS Access.

This position is concerned with a variety of areas in our Manufacturing facility and is visible to all employees and the incumbent must interact with a variety of departments through integrity, knowledge, and personal example. Must conduct self in a manner that demonstrates cooperation, leadership, and willingness to assist fellow workers with handling issues as they arise and provide assistance and training as may be necessary from time to time. Must be a team player. Must have good interpersonal skills. Responsible to maintain the Principles of Conduct & Action, Saint-Gobain Attitudes, and Rules of Conduct.

Must satisfactorily complete associated training programs. Ability to learn, and perform all duties required of the position.
