DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This position is responsible for the efficient and high quality performance of a variety of plumbing, HVAC and related jobs requiring a good knowledge of these trades. Specific instructions are received regarding tasks to perform and sometimes how to perform them. Immediate supervision may be exercised over the work of a laborer or maintenance worker. Does related work as required. Works directly with a Head Plumber.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the standard practices, processes and materials of plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting and pipe fitting trades; good knowledge of mechanical drawing and local plumbing laws and regulations; ability to work from plans, sketches, specifications, blue prints, oral and written instructions; dependability; pleasant personality in dealing with the public and fellow employees; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously throughout the duration of employment.
