I have hired and /or tried out many individuals who said they could do good work patching but most of the time the results were no good and I would have to sand down or completely redo their work to get ready for paint. I understand there is a way a skilled person can use hot mud or the correct drywall mud to do a group of 2 by 2 foot patches in one day without coming back to the job a second or third day.You don't make money coming back to a job 2 or 3 times. Since plumbing is also so competitive in my area , I am also considering doing drywall repair as a good side hustle as I an getting pretty up there in age and cannot crawl under houses or up in attics much longer. I need to find a good competent patient individual who has had a lot of experience with all kinds of drywall jobs who has a hand in it everyday and knows all the secrets and ins and outs of using the right kinds or tape , mud and trowels. I have many many attempts to master drywall patching and repair but it still doesnt come out quite right.I have also heard there is a way to use paint brushes and water or a big paint brush with a plasterers finihing trowel to smooth out damp mud to avoid a lot of sanding when dry.
