Overview The Purchasing Manager for Cummings Electrical will be responsible for managing a purchasing department as required to support an annual revenue in excess of $250 million. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work to be performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned.) Work closely with local Electrical Distributors to establish and maintain business relationships to help Cummings Electrical gain a competitive edge through strategic purchasing agreements. Work closely with cross-functional teams to secure the most competitive pricing available with our partner vendors. Continually develop, refine and negotiate purchasing agreements with vendors for various packages. Develop purchasing processes and procedures to streamline current processes. (Internal operations and partner-vendor relations) Maintain vision of purchasing from a company-wide perspective. Leverage strategic purchasing practices, such as poundage buying and project grouping, to maximize cost savings and improve overall project profitability. Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics Establish vendor accountability and performance metrics. Manage relationships with key suppliers to keep abreast of the market's trends, maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts Research suppliers for out-of-town work and establishes relationships and expectations for the support of the project. Work with manufacturers as required to negotiate volume rebates, purchasing incentives, new product development, etc. Work with Cummings' Legal Counsel to review and issue subcontracts. Work closely with project teams to develop purchasing plans to effectively support projects. Review construction estimates and schedules with Project Managers to develop buyout packages and delivery schedules. Develop standard purchasing arrangements and processes to be used by our project teams. Train Project Managers and Superintendents to work within established processes. Maintain focus on planned orders to eliminate rush orders. Coordinate with Management to hold project teams accountable for established plan Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed under established budget Work with Project Manager and vendors to secure material returns. Maintain, update and document purchasing records to meet compliance requirements Responsible for developing and training staff to meet projected goals and department expectations Lead department training and employee development initiatives, leadership coaching and team-building to communicate a consistent, core-value based message Qualifications BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements. Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Outstanding organizational skills Must possess the technical skills and knowledge required to perform essential tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
