The Director of Purchasing is responsible for leading and optimizing the procurement strategy for all indirect spend categories including IT, marketing, professional services, facilities, HR, and travel. This role is also responsible for leading the Sourcing Team based in China to drive and support all sourcing activities across the Asian Region. Finally, this role is also responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement processes. The role will ensure procurement operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for indirect categories.

Lead negotiations and contract management for indirect spend.

Identify and deliver cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.

Collaborate with plant managers, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure the cost-effective procurement of MRO and capital equipment.

Build and manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, service, and innovation.

Monitor supplier performance and lead supplier development initiatives.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on procurement matters.

Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and sustainability goals.

Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor procurement performance and health.

Establish procurement policies, controls, and compliance frameworks.

Lead and manage the procurement team based in China

Ensure Asia procurement strategies are aligned with business objectives.

Oversee supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management.

Identify and qualify new suppliers to support cost, quality, and innovation goals.

Required Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of the Strategic Sourcing Process

Demonstrated project management skills that include utilizing an organized approach, setting priorities, identifying risks and opportunities, managing resources, milestones, and costs in a matrix/cross-functional organization.

Strong organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills

Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment

Ability to influence peers and lead cross-functional teams

Self-starter, possessing a high degree of self-motivation

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).

15+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 Procurement leadership within a manufacturing environment.

Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.

Experience with ERP and procurement platforms (SAP)

Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
