The Pipefitter Welder Journeyman is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations, including fitting, modifying, installing and testing piping systems on Navy Ships and other marine vessels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
Perform a wide variety of layout/fitting/welding required to complete complex from blue prints and drawings/sketches
Ability to read job specifications and blueprints to accomplish requirements
Ability to accomplish piping modifications and new installations with no supervision
Accomplish all type of testing, hydro and air
Must be able to bend and thread piping
Performs shipfitting & welding functions such as but not limited to fit up of structure, butting, snipping, sanding, grinding, prepping, tacking.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Ability to follow all Safety and Company Policies
Ability to accomplish testing of all systems
Ability to troubleshoot drawing problems and provide solutions
Able to operate various equipment, weld machines, benders/threaders etc.
Have knowledge of all types of piping systems

Communication Proficiency
Flexibility (Job duties & schedule)
Follow verbal/written instructions
Able to work independently
Teamwork orientation
Able to work at heights, confined spaces and extended shifts
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 7+ years of fitting & welding experience
Arc, GMAW, MIG, TIG welding on
Ship repair/build experience a plus
