This Engineering Technician III located in the Division 10 Charlotte Resident Engineers office is an advanced level position that will serve as a senior project roadway/structure inspector supporting engineers in the administration of highway construction. The position will be responsible for monitoring contractor daily operations & incorporated material and performing and/or reviewing test reports to ensure conformance to specifications and contractual provisions. Performs contract administration duties such as pay record entry/review, material received reports, certified payroll review, daily diary creation/review, as-constructed plans and monthly quantity verification for estimate payments. Resolves daily constructability issues to mitigate project delays. Monitors contractor operations to ensure compliance with subcontract agreements and contract DBE requirements. Ensures project compliance with erosion & stormwater control plans and standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with permits. Communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners and property owners. Assists in management and training of lower-level technicians, to include both Department and Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) personnel.

Additional Expectations:
Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, weather extremes, and traversing rough terrain. Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling and standing. Must be able to lift 50lb. Knowledge and skill in using general office software on computer and tablets. Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed, on any assigned project within the Division. Experience with HiCAMS and SharePoint is preferred.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
