As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Cornings Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Role Purpose

Responsible for overall production and shipping of products to meet established goals. Coordinate with engineering and other staff functions to deliver plant cost, quality, and service objectives while meeting all safety, health, and environmental requirements. Develop a highly capable and effective high performance organization that can both ensure process integrity and be flexible enough to meet the changing demands of the business.

Location and Responsibilities

Schedule: Onsite Monday-Friday (day shift, with flexibility for off-hours).

Location: Salt Lake City, UT.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the creation of an operating plan aligned with division, business, and manufacturing strategies to achieve key performance objectives.
  • Oversee manufacturing capabilities and lead the execution of the operating plan to meet production and commercial goals.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to plant personnel to ensure understanding and alignment with manufacturing priorities and requirements.
  • Manage and optimize facilities and production equipment to ensure cleanliness, operational capacity, and adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies. Identify and analyze areas for improvement.
  • Foster a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, promoting the Behavior-Based Safety program and tracking safety metrics.
  • Cultivate positive and motivating employee relations in alignment with company values.
  • Develop and grow the talent and capabilities of plant operations staff, mentoring future leaders and fostering career development.
  • Enhance organizational competencies through effective staff selection, performance management, training programs, education, recognition, and development initiatives.
  • Strengthen leadership skills of supervisors and implement an efficient organizational structure.
  • Build strong relationships within the business, plant teams, and with key customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Drive Lean practices and lead corporate manufacturing initiatives as required.
Experiences/Education - Required
  • B.S. in Operations or Engineering-related field.
  • 5+ years as a Plant Operations Manager.
  • Progressive leadership experience in operations/engineering, including department supervisor roles.
  • Frontline leadership in machining, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
  • Broad experience across diverse manufacturing processes.
  • Expertise in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or project-based roles.
  • Global manufacturing/business operations exposure through roles/projects.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in continuous improvement, innovation, technical growth, work redesign, or change initiatives.
  • Track record of talent development.
  • Collaboration across functional groups to achieve results.
  • Understanding of financial metrics and cost drivers (e.g., standard vs. actual costs
Experiences/Education - Desired
  • Proven frontline leadership experience within machining, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
  • Comprehensive experience across diverse manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in staff or project roles, including Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, or project-based assignments.
  • Familiarity with global manufacturing and business operations through professional roles or project engagements.

The range for this position is $123,858.00 - $170,305.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
