Job Title: Mechanical Drafter

Job Description

As a Mechanical Drafter, you will be responsible for preparing detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other essential engineering information. Your role will involve developing detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. You will collaborate with other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems, resolving design or other challenges. Additionally, you will compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, position instructions and comments onto drawings, and design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices with dimensions, fastening methods, and engineering information.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems.
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery.
  • Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
  • Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items.
  • Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to materials.
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and systems.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical drafting and CAD software proficiency.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mechanical drafting.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Understanding of engineering science and technology applications.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting), Creo, and Windchill.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Windchill and Creo.

Work Environment

The position involves working with computer-assisted drafting equipment, including CADD, Creo, and Windchill. The work environment is dynamic, requiring collaboration with other team members to ensure successful design and implementation of mechanical systems. Standard office hours apply, and the dress code is business casual.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
