Technical Business Development Manager or Business Development Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Business Development Manager or Business Development Engineer. This role involves developing and executing strategic business plans to increase market penetration and manage new leads from inception to order. The successful candidate will collaborate with sales, engineering, and program management teams to promote our products and services, ensuring customer satisfaction and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and input annual sales plans into the strategic business plan.
  • Prepare penetration plans for assigned territories or markets.
  • Identify, document, and manage new leads from inception to order.
  • Review and analyze sales performances against forecast goals quarterly.
  • Visit existing and prospective customer accounts, promoting the company through technical seminars and meetings.
  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals addressing customers specifications and statements of work.
  • Propose relevant solutions to address customers needs leading to technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and program managers to develop program awareness and identify strategic paths for further promotion.
  • Report daily to the sales team on ongoing actions and the status of active leads.
  • Suggest technical solutions addressing customer requirements and prepare associated cost data for competitive pricing.
  • Ensure all new business opportunities meet financial requirements established by top management.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a timely and effective manner for allocated projects or accounts.
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of rugged display/panel/computer technologies.
  • Participate in assigned exhibits, trade shows, and other sales initiatives.
  • Propose and supervise the creation of marketing material to promote products.
  • Develop dynamic business presentations and proposals for customers and internal communications.
  • Deliver presentations to executives and management teams to highlight business or marketing opportunities.
Essential Skills
  • Business development experience in engineering and technical sales.
  • Proficiency in mil spec and mil standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Engineering degree.
  • Hunter mentality for business development.
  • Experience in outside sales and cold calling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Five plus years of design experience in electronics or electro-mechanical products, ideally in a small business environment.
  • Experience in designing electronic products for the military.
  • Five plus years of sales experience with daily customer interaction.
  • Strong autonomy and self-motivation.
Work Environment
  1. This position offers hybrid and remote work options, with the company located in Mahwah, NJ. We operate on a 9/80 schedule, offering flexibility for the right candidate. While not required to be onsite five days a week, a commutable hybrid schedule is preferred. Travel is estimated at 30%, with potential hubs in Alabama. The company culture is supportive, with a close-knit team of 58 employees and shared services for accounting, payroll, and HR.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $200000.00/yr.

Employees are eligible for benefits after 30 days of employment.
