The CAD Technician performs technical civil engineering and drafting work in support of County Highway maintenance and construction projects.

- Develops and modifies detailed dimensional drawings, survey exhibits, and design layouts using Autodesk Civil 3D
- Calculates dimensions, excavation volume, profile specifications, and material quantities
- Researches and drafts plats, easements, and boundary surveys using CAD software to ensure accurate mapping of property lines and legal restrictions
- Assists in gathering, interpreting, and preparing data for studies, reports, plans, and specifications
- Develops and maintains CAD standards, templates, and settings; provides technical support and guidance to staff as needed
- Assists with field inspections of paving and construction projects
- Communicates with contractors to support project coordination and clarify construction details
- Maintains accurate daily logs detailing construction activities and field observations
- Adheres to all traffic laws and safety regulations on roadways and work sites; identifies and reports safety hazards or traffic concerns
- Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
- Associate degree in CAD technology, drafting, civil engineering, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Drivers License or equivalent
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Work is performed in an office setting and an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
- Some work is performed on construction sites with exposure to uneven ground, loud noises, chemicals, and construction equipment
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $33.16 to $38.13 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
