Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Principal Project Scheduler will perform overly complex project scheduling assignments which require the creation and monitoring as well as technical project scheduling knowledge of an engineering, procurement, and Construction project (EPC). The incumbent will be familiar with complex concepts, practices, and procedures within area of responsibility. They will need many years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while working on overly complex projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee tasks required to develop and maintain project schedules for the entire Life Cycle of a Project
    • Includes collecting actual quantities installed per schedule, assess progress data supplied by others, and visual inspection
  • Develop highly detailed engineering and construction schedules with construction management
  • Update the schedule forecast to reflect most current plans/requirements
  • Interface with other cross functional organizations to provide project scheduling data for items such as sub contract change requests, complex bid comparisons, new work item estimates, and resolution of potential schedule/work problems
  • Oversee the project schedule analysis, with proactive scheduling recommendations
  • Oversee the Project Management through preparation and maintenance of project schedule forecasts and project schedules
  • Calculate/prepare various highly complex comparison visual management, reports, charts, and tables for project analysis
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of Primavera/P6 Skillset
  • Basic knowledge of general project scheduling, and schedule quality principles
  • Communicating in a project team setting

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business or related field with seven (7) or more years of experience supporting complex projects/scheduling
    • [OR] Associate's degree in engineering, construction management, business or related field with nine (9) or more years of experience supporting complex projects/scheduling
    • [OR] High School Diploma/GED with eleven (11) or more years of experience supporting complex projects/scheduling

Preferred Experience

  • Leadership skills or experience is preferred as this position will oversee the scheduling side of the Renewables/Clean Energy business and may have a contractor scheduler reporting to them

Certifications

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification required upon hire
