Bhate is seeking an Environmental Cost Estimator/Scheduler with environmental restoration and compliance experience for the Denver CO office. Bhate specializes in the investigation and cleanup of client sites impacted by historical releases of fuels, solvents, munitions, and other contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Bhate also executes environmental compliance projects for DoD clients and other federal agencies, ensuring compliance with air, water, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and related regulations. Bhate executes environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects for the Department of Defense (DoD), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), other federal agencies, and commercial clients throughout the US. Other Bhate business lines that the Denver office supports include Fueling System Upgrades, Facility Abatement/Demolition, and Construction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Duties include development of detailed cost estimates for environmental remediation and compliance projects, and preparation and maintenance of project schedules using Microsoft (MS) Project software.
- Responsibilities will include preparation of cost estimates and schedules for competitive proposals and maintenance of estimates-to-complete (ETCs) and schedules during execution of projects.
- Projects assigned will include environmental investigations, design and optimization of environmental remediation systems, and environmental compliance projects.
- Cost Estimator/Scheduler will work directly with Bhate Proposal Capture Managers and Project Managers on cost estimates, budgets, and schedules as they evolve during proposal preparation and project execution.
Position Requirements:
- Candidates must have demonstrated exceptional proficiency with MS Excel and MS Project. Experience with specialized estimating software (such as Timberline ) and/or other scheduling software (such as Primavera Project Planner) will be considered an added benefit but is not required for this position.
- Candidates must have a working knowledge of environmental restoration and environmental compliance business requirements and practices, including pricing requirements for labor (including overhead pricing), travel, subcontractors, other direct costs (ODCs), and profit. Knowledge of construction and demolition cost estimating/scheduling will be considered an added benefit.
- Candidates must have working knowledge of scheduling requirements for environmental restoration and compliance projects, including task sequencing, critical-path method (CPM) analysis, and cost-loaded/resource-loaded scheduling.
- Candidates must have knowledge of subcontractor requirements for environmental restoration and compliance projects, such as environmental drilling, laboratory analysis, surveying, waste removal/treatment, and site remediation.
- Experience working on cost estimates for US Government, including USEPA, Air Force, Army, Navy and AFCEC is preferred.
- Candidates should have working knowledge of UST, CERCLA and RCRA regulatory processes.
- Candidates should have practical knowledge of engineering methods and techniques, especially as related to environmental remediation.
- An understanding of the mechanical equipment required for environmental remediation technologies is preferred.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
- Must be versatile, a good problem solver, and can work well independently.
- Must be willing to travel of site visits during proposal preparation and project execution, as required, assuming approximately 15% travel.
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in physical sciences (geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, soil science) or engineering (environmental, civil, chemical, mechanical, construction management) is preferred, though non-degree candidates with significant working experience in cost estimating and scheduling may be considered. A high-school diploma is required at a minimum.
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience conducting cost estimating and scheduling for environmental restoration and/or compliance projects is required.
