Our company is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The candidate must be able to manage a crew to achieve production numbers and work efficiently. This position will require the candidate to operate equipment and assist with labor on a daily basis, as necessary. The ideal candidate must have experience in running and working in all aspects of site and utility work, including but not limited to:
* Advanced knowledge of all excavation, grading and utility installation means and methods.
* Site layout, logistics management and workflow planning.
* Schedule daily and weekly work with all appropriate parties.
* Order materials in a timely manner.
* Stormwater pollution protection, erosion and sediment control.
* Site demolition, preparation and organization.
* Cut/fill/haul-off earthmoving and grading operations.
* Excavate accurately for footings and foundations.
* Install utilities including but not limited to water lines, sanitary sewer lines, drainage lines and structures (i.e. catch basins, manholes, septic tanks, etc.), and electric/gas line trenching.
* Rough grade and fine grade hardscapes and landscapes including but not limited to building slabs, sidewalks, parking lots, pavers, pathways, and lawn areas.
* Work closely with team project managers and estimators to track job production, change orders, milestones and completion.
Skills and Requirements:
* 4 years of experience operating heavy machinery including but not limited to excavators, backhoes, dozers, loaders, skid steers, compactors, and rollers working on Civil / Utility / Sitework projects.
* Experience running/managing a commercial sitework project and field personnel is a plus.
* Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
* Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment.
* Extensive knowledge of site layout.
* Knowledge and experience using GPS / Total Station equipment preferred.
* Ability to read and comprehend construction blueprints and convey information to others.
* Ability to execute elevations and layout per plans and specs.
* Extensive knowledge of the following but not limited to drainage and utilities, earthwork, site, prep, rough and finish grading, excavation for footings and foundations.
* Complete work to a quality level above industry standards understanding that every detail matters.
* Review the project daily to ensure all activities are being performed in accordance with all OSHA safety regulations and company safety documents.
* Communicating with owners, architects, engineers, superintendents, project managers in connection with field issues; investigating and resolving such issues.
* Advise project team on matters pertaining to materials, sequencing, scheduling and personnel.
* Manage subcontractor performance to a high level of quality.
* Ensure as-built working drawings are accurately maintained.
* Follow directions.
* Ability to problem solve.
* Willingness to work overtime when necessary to delivery project on time and under budget.
* Working in all weather conditions as necessary.
* Capable of carrying at least 80 lbs.
* Desire for a long term career.
* Driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
* Willingness to submit to a background check and drug test.
* Must have a minimum OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 or Hazwoper certificate is a plus).
* Class A or B driver's license a plus but not required.
* Mechanic experience and ability a plus but not required.
