Basic Function

Plan, schedule and implement project engineering efforts related to mechanical design of flow instruments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create new mechanical flow measurement and control technologies (sensors, valves, meter bodies, flow elements, enclosures, etc.)

  • Directly plan product test processes, work with manufacturing and service organizations to implement and validate them in production.

  • Direct the design and build of molded, welded, etched, stamped, machined, and extruded components.

  • Work with outside vendors to fabricate design prototypes, perform DFMEA and Design for Manufacturability reviews (i.e. machine shops, laser welders, wet etch shops, material suppliers, etc.)

  • Develop and/or interpret complex 3D CAD drawings in SolidWorks.

  • Implement and validate new designs at global manufacturing sites and service centers.

  • Participate in streamlining the global BOM, part numbering system, and product configuration systems.

  • Develop mechanical product designs and processes for flow control devices. Market and Engineering design requirements gathering.

  • Design verification and validation testing of new designs.

  • Implement and validate new designs at global manufacturing sites and service centers.

  • Assist in the design and redesign of products. Initiate and assist in implementation of ECN's.

  • Plan and conduct design-support work to maintain project timing.

  • Design assignments that may occasionally be broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.

  • Support company continuous improvement initiatives, particularly as related to product quality.

  • Maintain and enhance department safety policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required. MS in Mechanical Engineering a plus.

  • 5+ years experience in high-tolerance mechanical component design. Flow component/instrumentation experience a plus.

  • Must be a strong SolidWorks user.

  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly a plus.

  • Ability to lead and make technical contributions to a multi-disciplinary team required.

  • Ability to clearly communicate technically with cross functional teams.

  • Experience in experimental design, testing and analysis required.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook Required.

  • Technical report writing skills required.

  • Ability to generate engineering standards required.

  • Ability to read and understand detailed technical drawings and specifications required.

  • 3D CAD Modeling, Drawing generation with GD&T, and CAD database experience desired.

  • MathCAD, Simulink, LabView, Python, FEA Analysis experience a plus.

  • Related experience or training in the following areas desired:

  • Process control instrumentation

  • Metrology

  • Data collection and analysis

  • Calibration
