About the role - Painter/Drywall Tech:

The Painter Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance services to the hotel and its guests. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to guest requests and service orders, maintaining inventory of all stock and materials used, and managing assigned projects. This position requires excellent communication skills and a consistent daily work ethic. The ideal candidate must have at least three years of experience in painting and wallpaper application, along with knowledge of tile and drywall.

Basic Job Duties and Expectations:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, and priming.
  • Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
  • Repair cracks, holes, or other imperfections in walls or surfaces.
  • Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape to protect surrounding areas.
  • Pivot seamlessly from project to project when needed, based on priority and/or business needs.
  • Cleans and maintains work areas as required.
  • Maintains maintenance log and records.

Wage Information:

The hourly rate for this position is $26.50/hr. This is the pay rate for this position that Hyatt Regency La Jolla reasonably expects to pay.

Qualifications:

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience and knowledge related to commercial painting required
  • At least 3 years painting, drywall, and tile experience
  • Carpentry experience required
  • Must have physical stamina to stand, climb, and lift for extended periods of time
  • Ability to push and pull heavy objects
  • Ability to walk long distances
  • Ability to work in the sun
  • Must have open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting experience
  • Refined verbal communication skills
