We are currently seeking a Pipeline Mechanical Technician that will be based at our East Chicago, IN location.
The overall objective of the Pipeline Mechanical Technician is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of multiple pipeline compressors and meter stations. Many of these stations are located on customer sites. In this hands-on role, the Pipeline Mechanical Technician will be responsible for completing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities for our pipeline compressors, associated fixed equipment, and systems. This person will be expected to work independently and make technical decisions or recommendations in the field.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Develop, plan, schedule, coordinate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
* Use a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical equipment and systems.
* Use precision tools such as micrometers, scales, calipers, dial indicators to assist with inspection and repair activities.
* Safely troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and maintain all associated pipeline mechanical systems including reciprocating compressors, centrifugal pumps, fin fan units, shell and tube heat exchangers, blowers, valves, valve actuators, and safety relief devices.
* Collaborate with other support personnel and mechanical contractors in troubleshooting and /repair efforts
* Complete and document maintenance activities associated with preventative, corrective, and project maintenance activities in the CMMS.
* Read and maintain PandIDs in compliance with SOPs, QA, and MOC policies.
* Assess equipment performance data and ensure optimal and efficient performance.
* Maintain pipeline isolation valves and process safety valves.
* Perform pipeline Julie 811 locates and ensure Linde pipeline is protected during outside utility construction.
* Support on-site maintenance or project activities at satellite pipelines located in Columbia City, IN, Detroit MI, and Kansas City, MO as required.
* Complete Permit to Work and equipment Lockout/ Tagout processes.
This position requires a combination of office work and field work. Employee will be required to work in different weather conditions. Must be able to access elevated equipment via fixed and movable ladders, scaffolding, manlifts, or crane baskets. The position requires the individual to enter confined spaces, and wear a respirator as required. The job occasionally requires overtime and callouts on weekends, nights, and holidays. Approx. 10%-15% annual overnight travel required.
Required Qualifications:
* High School education, associates degree in mechanical engineering a plus.
* Journeyman millwright/machinist experience preferred.
* 5+ years experience in an industrial production and maintenance environment.
* Computer skills required and experience using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Demonstrate knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance actions for fixed and rotating equipment.
* Demonstrate knowledge of repairing both threaded and welded piping systems.
* Proven experience utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities.
* Previous contractor management experience.
* Ability to read and understand Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.
* Work extended hours and/or weekends, holidays and call-ins along with the ability to travel out of town on short notice is required. Approx. 10%-15% annual overnight travel required.
* Current and valid drivers license required.
