Shipboard Electrical Technician (Engineering Tech)
We are looking for full-time technicians to support the Electrical and Interior Communications (IC) equipment and systems. Equipment and systems that will be supported include the following: Switchboards, load centers, power and lighting distribution panels, circuit breakers, cathodic protection systems, and degaussing systems. Due to the continual modification/upgrade of shipboard system/equipment/component configuration, and since not all vessels have the same systems/equipment/components installed, and since there are often more than one version of certain systems/equipment/components installed across various classes and platforms of U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) in-service ships supported by MARMC, this list cannot be considered all-inclusive.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications.
- Five (5) years' experience (within the last 10 years) troubleshooting and conducting corrective and preventive maintenance on shipboard power distribution, interior communications, and/or electronic systems
- Qualification as a US Navy CIC Watch Supervisor, Chief Electrical Watch, Electrical Plant Control Console (EPCC), or Engineering Officer Of the Watch (EOOW) on a conventional powered ship, or a load dispatcher on a nuclear powered ship, or commensurate commercial qualification/certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in availability planning, modernization, repair and testing of shipboard electrical systems/equipment.
- Minimum four (4) years' experience utilizing US Navy 3-M and supply systems.
- Current certification as a Level 1 Thermographer (Infrared Survey)
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, hard hats, etc. as required
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the (Naval/ Maritime) facility and/or ship
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
