Overview

• South Mountain Creamery is a family-owned dairy farm and home delivery service based in Middletown, Maryland.
• We are looking for an Operator/Mechanic at our Knoxville MD site to maintain, repair, and operate our agricultural equipment, fleet vehicles, and various systems.
• You will be responsible for ensuring the Maneuvering, optimal performance, safety, and PM (Preventative Maintenance) work of our agricultural equipment
• You will work closely with our Farm teams, production, delivery, maintenance, to troubleshoot and resolve any issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance and repairs to agricultural equipment, construction equipment, skid loaders, fleet trucks, dump trucks, road tractors, trailers and other various Diesel and Gasoline automotive and agricultural systems.
• Diagnose and repair any malfunctions or defects on mechanical equipment and systems. Install, test, refurbish, replace, and commission parts on company equipment and systems.
• Operate various large and small Agricultural/Construction equipment used but not limited to Planting, Manure hauling, Spraying, harvesting, excavating, mowing
• Follow safety procedures and regulations when working, not limited to various hand tools, automotive lifts, jacks, welding, and fabrication tools. various chemical lubricants, refrigerants, gases, fuels and all company equipment and property.
• Document and report all work performed, parts/inventory used, and problems encountered on the company's Maintenance software program
• Provide technical support and guidance to other staff members as needed.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Proficiency /Technical Aptitude
• Ability to Operate various forms of Agricultural equipment
• Must be able Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Mechanical systems
• Provides own personal basic tool set for PM work
• Basic knowledge of Diagnostic scan tools
• A self-starter that can work independently as well as work with a team
• Some experience in an Agricultural/mechanical trade or similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and codes.
• Ability to use various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
• Tire mounting/dismounting skills a plus
• Knowledge of Agricultural equipment is a Plus
• Welding and fabrication skills are a Plus
• Able to pass a standard medical DOT physical
• CDL license a plus (also willing to obtain one)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record. (company supplied DOT medical card required within one month of employment)

Full Time - Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM (and seasonal weekend work)

Pay Range: $20 - $22 per hour (to start depending on experience)
