We are currently searching for a Sr. Welder/Grinder for our Springfield MO Facility. Co-workers in this classification have an advanced understanding and competency in welding and grinding operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to setup, operate and maintain manual or automatic welding, grinding and/or cutting equipment
  • Ability to understand and work from drawings and/or specifications with proficiency
  • Recognize, setup and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Determine welding procedures to avoid warping, shrinking or otherwise distorting weldments
  • Ability to position and secure work pieces using overhead cranes, hoists, fork lifts, etc.
  • Ability to grind to a # 7 finish using procedures determined by themselves
  • Ability to train employees on proper use of OD pipe polishing and flat bar polishing equipment
  • Ability to fuse dissimilar metals
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position
  • Overtime is a mandatory condition of employment and frequent in this position

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)

  • Knowledge of metallurgy to minimize distortion while welding
  • Advanced knowledge of grinding abrasives and material surface finishes
  • Knowledge of Paul Mueller Company general work procedures in regards to marking and tagging material with proper work order number and heat codes
  • Advanced blueprint reading knowledge
  • Strong math skills
  • Must obtain and maintain ASME certifications
  • Employees within the classification will be performing at the highest degree of proficiency/efficiency in the facility

Base Compensation Range: $26.50 - $29.50 per hour

Shift Differential: 10%

Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary base on company performance (as of 2024).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Exposure to conditions, such as: dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Additional effort requirements consist of, but are not limited to, lifting, pushing and pulling material, stairs, and ladders. When there is an occasion to move heavy material greater than 50 pounds, the operator will request assistance from another operator, or utilize provided lifting equipment.
