DESCRIPTION:
A Plant Utilities Engineer II supervises those engaged in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing and calibration of mechanical, electrical, electronic and DDC equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air-conditioning and electrical distribution in the most efficient and safe way possible. Incumbent's are working supervisors and, such as, perform any task in the Plant Utilities Engineer trade. They coordinate the major overhauls and replacement of equipment and oversee energy conservation projects. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BOTH
A.Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate's Degree in Plant Utilities Technology or the equiv- alent . In order to determine whether a specific degree is equivalent to the Plant Utilities Technology Program, the major course of study must include a minimum of thirty (30) college semester credit hours in any combination of the following areas: Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning, Boiler and Steam Systems, Industrial Electricity and Electrical Circuits, Electric Utility Systems, Fluid Mechanics, Plant Operation, Technical Communications, Thermal Dynamics Industrial Instrumentation, Physics and Con- trol, Utility Refrigeration Industrial Safety, Mechanics Environmental Air Quality, Blueprint Reading and Sketching; AND,
B.At least ten (10) years of satisfactory hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of large HVAC system equipment in commercial, industrial or institutional facilities. This includes heat pump systems, roof top units as well as large chiller plants (270 tons or larger), cooling towers, pumps, steam and water boilers, pneumatic and electronic control systems and auxiliary equipment. (Experience limited to residential applications is not considered qualifying)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Certified in Direct Digital Controls programming from two (2) or more of the following: Andover Controls, Automated Logic, Delta Controls. Must also have possession of Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Universal Certification.
