Essential Job Functions
Assigns, supervises and inspects the work of carpenters, apprentices and helpers in new construction, alteration, and repair work.
Plans carpentry projects and coordinates activities with other crafts and operating units.
Lays out jobs and estimates labor and material requirements.
Determines work methods and types of materials to be used.
Orders and maintains a stock of materials and supplies.
Ensures that code requirements and safety regulations and safe work practices are observed.
Supervises the maintenance of tools and equipment.
Keeps and maintains work records.
Performs the work of a journeyman carpenter.
Drives automotive equipment to work sites.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Two years' journey-level* experience in carpentry work on buildings.
*Journey-level carpentry work is work that requires extensive knowledge of the craft such as rough and finish carpentry on buildings, milling, woodturning, and pattern work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications or verbal instruction. Please ensure application contains detailed information specifically addressing journey level experience, educational background, and/or specialized training courses/programs completed. Also, the required technical experience can be a combination of County and/or outside experience.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class IV - Arduous: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.
