Project Manager / Estimator – Excavation & Underground Utilities
A well-established and growing civil construction contractor is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager/Estimator with proven experience in excavation and underground utility work. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and confident managing projects from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate estimates and bids for excavation and utility projects (water, sewer, storm drain, etc.)
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
Develop project budgets, schedules, and timelines
Lead project kickoff meetings and oversee job progress from pre-construction to closeout
Coordinate with field superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion
Monitor job costs and provide regular reports on financial and schedule status
Manage change orders, RFIs, and all related documentation
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on excavation and underground utilities
Strong estimating background with hands-on experience preparing takeoffs and bid packages
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., B2W, HCSS, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar)
Ability to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and team members
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
