Job Title: Construction Inspector
Job Description
The Construction Inspector is responsible for performing both complex and standard inspections of construction projects to ensure the use of appropriate materials and processes. The role involves verifying that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions. The inspector will utilize advanced equipment and perform complex calculations during inspections, and may work under varying levels of supervision depending on their demonstrated knowledge for specific assignments. Additionally, the inspector will review drawings to prepare for inspections, understand construction designs, and document and communicate inspection results to supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Conduct both complex and routine inspections of construction projects.
- Evaluate the use of appropriate materials and processes in construction.
- Ensure construction adherence to plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Utilize advanced equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
- Work under limited or direct supervision based on knowledge and assignment.
- Review construction drawings to prepare for inspections.
- Understand the design of construction projects being inspected.
- Document and communicate inspection results to supervisors.
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction and construction inspection.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles.
- Ability to perform complex calculations.
- Proficiency in reviewing and understanding construction drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to build accurate service line inventories.
- Skill in predicting unknown pipe materials.
- Capability to manage construction and compliance data efficiently.
Work Environment
The work environment involves assisting federal, public, private, and international organizations in construction services for transportation systems. This includes providing value-added program management, best-in-class design-build expertise, and solutions for sustainability and economic challenges. The role may require the use of piping and GIS technologies
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.50/hr.
