Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will analyze drawings and specifications, manage budgeting and scheduling for projects, and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and clients. A thorough understanding of construction contractual terms and conditions is essential, along with the ability to perform job site visits and attend pre-bid meetings. The estimator will formulate cost breakdowns from estimates for project progress and provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labor costing.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings and specifications for project requirements.
  • Manage budgeting and scheduling for construction projects.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with subcontractors and clients.
  • Understand and interpret construction contractual terms and conditions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct job site visits to ensure project scope clarity.
  • Formulate cost breakdowns from estimates for project progress tracking.
  • Provide and maintain unit pricing and databases for material and labor costs.
  • Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals for preconstruction project bids.
  • Organize and negotiate subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Issue properly documented purchase orders.
  • Projects may include commercial or school renovations.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency with estimating software, especially for commercial projects.
  • Experience working with a general contractor.
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Excel.
  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Connections with subcontractors in the area are desired.
  • A degree is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Union projects ranging from $100k to $10m.
  • Ability to take initiative and operate independently.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and hold a valid driver's license.
Work Environment

The position requires travel around 3 days weekly to job sites, with 5 days onsite work. The work day starts between 7am-8am. Travel to project sites using a personal vehicle is required, with mileage reimbursed. Initial training will be provided for two weeks by the VP. The role offers an opportunity for career advancement, with a clear path to leading the Belleville office. The company provides a cell phone for work purposes, eligibility for a retirement plan after 12 months, and a Section 125 Flex spend plan or health insurance options after 6 months. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
