Cabinet Finisher Helper(s)

Under the direction of the Lead Finisher, perform duties to sand, prepare, and finish the product to match samples provided by the client. Apply finishing products to achieve the desired color and design.

Duties and responsibilities

Perform and facilitate but not limited to the following:

Wear the required PPE and attire, and take all necessary precautions to remain safe
Meeting with the Lead Finisher to discuss finishing and color requirements
Disassemble the product as necessary to apply the finish properly
Inspecting and repairing the wood for rot or any physical damage and flaws
Repairing broken parts, removing imperfections, and filling cracks
Remove any old finishing and excess solvents and adhesive
Sand and smooth the item in preparation for finishing
Select and apply finishing products such as stains, oils, paints, or top coat
Inspecting the finished product and preparing for delivery
Perform related duties as assigned

Strong attention to detail
Excellent hand-eye coordination
Good communication skills
Ability to safely and professionally use hand tools related to the woodworking business. Including but not limited to: Ladder-Hammer-Utility Knife-Chisel-Nail Set-Scraper

Working conditions

Candidate will report directly to the Lead Finisher. The job will be performed during regular business hours on company premises in an indoor shop environment or on-site. Requires extended periods of standing. Subject to noise from equipment operation.

Physical requirements

Physical requirements include but are not limited to the following:

Bending, pushing, moving, lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, heavy physical labor, standing and walking for extended periods of time, climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, carrying, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized tools and equipment, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
