Job Overview
Performs construction management, field inspection, and supervision of architectural (vertical construction) Capital Projects. Primary responsibility is to provide improved construction oversight and inspection of building construction to ensure that projects are consistently built with the highest quality in compliance with the specifications while improving project delivery and assist in keeping projects on time and on budget with increased contractor oversight.

Performs construction management, field inspection, and supervision of architectural (vertical construction) Capital Projects. Primary responsibility is to provide improved construction oversight and inspection of building construction to ensure that projects are consistently built with the highest quality in compliance with the specifications while improving project delivery and assist in keeping projects on time and on budget with increased contractor oversight. Minimum qualifications include a four (4) year degree from an accredited degree-granting college or university with a degree in Architecture, a minimum four (4) years of planning, assessment, design, construction, inspection and/or management of vertical construction projects, or an equivalent combination of both.

Min $68,286.40 annually
Mid $93,912.00 annually

Duties and Responsibilities

- Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices to the planning, design support, construction, assessment, asset management, and maintenance of multiple municipal projects, or portions of major projects; resolves conflicts and ensures compliance with permits and regulations; prepares and monitors scopes, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and internal and external department personnel to ensure efficient flow of communication and service.
- Oversee all construction phase work activities for architectural (vertical construction) capital projects by directing and supervising contractors; administering construction contracts; and reviewing shop drawings.
- Ensures work complies with regulatory and environmental requirements, best management practices, and industry standards; interacts with regulatory
agencies. Performs quality assurance inspections on performed work. - Makes routine and periodic inspections of assigned area to check for violations and hazardous conditions.
- Prepares and submits reports of architectural capital projects in violation of project specifications, drawings or construction contract.

Physical Requirements
- Job tasks involve frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping; unassisted lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders, rafters and scaffolding. Ability to walk on uneven ground. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to read computer screens and printouts. - Work is split between normal office environment and active construction sites. 40+ hours work Week, field time varies with complexity of projects. Frequently in high noise environment. Frequently in high dust, dirt environment. Exposure to machinery/vehicles. Frequently requires travel.

Minimum Qualifications Required
- Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; AND
- Four years of program/project management experience directly related to the position duties;
- Possession of a valid Florida Drivers license.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employees department, the Countys Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.

- Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to:
- Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
- Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes)
- Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS)
- Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
- Possess the necessary job related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Employees in this classification that acquire the competencies and minimum qualifications for the next tier will be able to apply for promotional opportunities through a competitive selection process. Employees will not automatically be upgraded to the next tier.
