Design Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for designing custom automated equipment. You will spend approximately 75%-80% of your time on design tasks, starting from the initial concept and working directly with customers to identify necessary components, design structures, brackets, mounts, and determine specifications such as cylinder size, valving, and required force. The remaining 25% of your time will involve assisting with the assembly and building of the machines on the floor, providing a valuable learning and growth opportunity in the industry.

Responsibilities

+ Design custom automated equipment, spending 75%-80% of time on design tasks.

+ Work directly with customers to identify necessary components and design specifications.

+ Take initial machine design concepts and develop them into complete designs.

+ Identify and specify components such as cylinder size, valving, and force requirements.

+ Participate in project meetings to discuss tasks and deadlines.

+ Assist in the assembly and building of machines and work cells on the floor.

+ Support design and development projects for the RV, steel, and medical industries.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of machine design experience.

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks.

+ Experience designing automated equipment/machines.

+ FEA (Finite Element Analysis) experience.

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

+ Engineering degree (preferred).

+ Project management experience (preferred).

+ Experience working with customers (preferred).

Work Environment

You will work in a smaller company that provides exposure to various industries and allows you to wear multiple hats within custom machine design, enhancing your mechanical engineering skills. The team is highly experienced and focuses on manufacturing automation solutions.

The environment is laid-back but productive, with a casual dress code (jeans and hoodies unless there is a customer visit).

The work week is based on 45 hours. Employees receive 5 days PTO, 6 standard holidays, and access to Udemy after 6 months.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
