This vacancy is located in the Maintenance Department a t Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA. ELMHS i s the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting, or plumbing.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
60% Performs plumbing duties required by the facility. Installs, alterations, maintenance and repairs of water lines, sewers, lavatories, commodes, gas lines, gas heaters, and gas stoves. Repairs old plumbing, replacing breakage to fixtures, renewing washers and valves, cleans and opens drain lines, repairs water pumps and performs various related work assignments as indicated or directed.
35% Install and perform preventive maintenance on all steam cooking equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on steam pot cookers and low pressure upright steamers. Cleans plumbing equipment and tools after each use; storage of hand tools in tool cabinets, cleaning of thread making machine after each use, checks regularly for adequate supply of cutting oil.
5% Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
Must possess and maintain a valid, unencumbered drivers license.
Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor/designee to maintain continuity and quality, accreditation and licensure requirements. Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor, but not listed, for the smooth operation of the unit/building and/or the facility.
Adheres to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of LDH, OBH, Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, Civil Service and the ELMHS Maintenance Department.
Position-Specific Details:
Salary is negotiable based on experience.

This position may be filled as either a Probational or Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency wide permanent status employees), by Detail to Special Duty; or as a part-time WAE. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected for a full-time position.
