Large utility is looking for a Construction Inspector in Holly, MI. This role is a seasonal, field-focused role requiring a high school diploma and 5+ years of experience in landscaping, road construction, or utility work, responsible for independently inspecting and auditing restoration work for compliance with company and permit standards, utilizing skills in permit interpretation, conflict resolution, customer service, SAP, Microsoft Office, and construction print reading. responsibilities:
- Inspect/audit work done by internal teams and contractors across a wide range of gas utility projects, from small digs to multi-mile infrastructure projects.
- Augment supply and company-initiated work.
- Enhanced Infrastructure Replacement Programs.
- Visit and audit job sites (both in-progress and completed).
- Validate techniques and quality of restoration efforts (pre- and post-vegetation).
- Engage with customers to set expectations and handle complaints.
- Provide documentation for bond recovery and permit closeouts.
- Generate reports on restoration timelines and permit compliance.
- Coordinate with Field Leaders and Permit Coordinators.
- Enter audit results and evaluations into tracking systems.
- Basic underground utility construction knowledge.
- Familiar with interpreting and following permit specifications (MDOT, muni, etc.).
- General engineering technology concepts and principles.
- Construction print reading and interpretation.
- Very strong skills in conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Proven Customer Experience.
- Skills in communicating both verbally and in writing.
- High school diploma (minimum).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in landscaping, road construction, ashphalt or concrete work.
