About the Role

We re seeking a skilled Telecom Infrastructure Technician with hands-on experience in coaxial cable installation, fiber optics, and structured cabling. You ll be part of a specialized team maintaining and upgrading telecom systems in central offices, exchange buildings, and field sites across [Region/State]. Ideal for former military signal techs, low-voltage installers, and cable/fiber technicians with experience in MDU, MDF/IDF cross-connection, and network testing .

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and test coaxial (RG6, 500, 540), fiber optic , and Cat5e/Cat6 cabling

  • Perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, light source and power meter testing

  • Conduct MDF/IDF cross-connects , rack/patch panel builds, and circuit provisioning

  • Install and align satellite dishes, UHF/IR receivers , and related telecom hardware

  • Use meters (e.g., JDSU, Fluke), LAN certifiers, and BER testers for circuit validation

  • Read and interpret blueprints, connection tables, and splicing schematics

  • Collaborate with NOC/support teams to troubleshoot and resolve network issues

  • Maintain documentation, inventory, and site compliance with safety standards

Qualifications
  • 3 10+ years in telecom, low voltage, or signal support environments (civilian or military)

  • Proven experience with fiber, coaxial, and structured cable systems

  • Familiarity with MDF/IDF , demarcation points, and central office wiring

  • Ability to climb, lift, and work in confined spaces when needed

  • Comfortable with handheld test gear, OTDRs, signal meters, and schematic interpretation

  • Certifications preferred : BICSI, OSHA 10/30, Corning Fiber, Panduit/Leviton/ADC installs

  • Must have a valid driver s license and reliable transportation
