- Conduct inspections on construction sites for various materials such as soils, concrete, asphalt, and reinforcing steel.
- Utilize a nuclear gauge for testing purposes and document results using a tablet.
- Perform tests and carry buckets for testing purposes.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and test results.
- Proven experience in construction inspection and materials testing.
- Concrete testing skills.
- Certification in ACI and NICET - not necessary but nice to have.
- Ability to operate a nuclear gauge.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new environments.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Map reading and basic math skills are a plus.
The work environment involves providing testing for construction materials at various sites, with a standard 40-hour work week. Some night shifts may be required, and there are opportunities for overtime as the weather gets warmer. The typical hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The dress code includes work boots, jeans, and button-up shirts. The role involves very independent work, with daily travel to different sites. Inspectors may need to pick up Nuclear Gauge equipment before their shift if they do not own one.
