Madison Colleges Early Learning Campus at our Truax Campus is excited to announce a great opportunity to be part of our expanding childcare team as an Early Learning Campus Coordinator ! This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners while being a key contributor to the growth and innovation of our Early Learning Campus.
The ELC Coordinator assists the Site Manager in the daily operation and oversight of childcare center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care. This role includes maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting curriculum implementation, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children. The ELC Coordinator also assists the Site Manager as a liaison with families, promotes professional development for staff, and collaborates with internal and external partners to support program goals and meet the needs of student parents, employees, and the broader community.
As an Early Learning Campus Coordinator , you will play a vital role in fostering a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. Each day brings new opportunities to inspire young minds and support their growth in our thriving and dynamic childcare education program.
This is a full-time, year-round position (52 weeks per year) with a Monday through Friday schedule, working within the current operational hours of 7:30am to 5:00pm, with occasional evenings as needed.

Accountabilities
- Assists Site Manager in leading, supporting and developing teams to ensure accountability of institutional objectives and operational excellence. This includes effective deployment of human resources practices such as inclusive hiring and recommending development opportunities and employee support.
- Assists the Site Manager as needed with budgetary, financial and procurement decisions that ensure fiduciary responsibility while meeting operational and institutional goals.
- Provides support and feedback on curriculum implementation, classroom management, and individualized planning based on child and family needs to ensure developmentally appropriate practices, foster inclusive learning environments, and promote positive outcomes for all children and families served.
- Ensures all operating procedures are followed to maintain childcare licensing and accreditation standards to uphold regulatory compliance, ensure the health and safety of children, and support the delivery of high-quality early childhood education.
- Supports administrative tasks such as classroom sign-in/out sheets, CACFP meal count sheets, phone support, and other office-related projects to ensure accurate record-keeping, compliance with program requirements, and smooth day-to-day operations of the childcare center.
- Provides kitchen and/or classroom support as needed to maintain required staff-to-child ratios, ensure uninterrupted meal service, and offer additional assistance during challenging classroom situations, thereby supporting a safe and responsive learning environment.
- Supports the overall operation of the campus childcare centers, including regularly updating policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-quality learning environment that supports the developmental needs of children and aligns with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Assists the Principal Investigator on local, state, and federal grants. Assists with administrative processes and reporting related to accreditation and external contracts to ensure regulatory compliance, program quality, and sustained partnership effectiveness.
- Serves as an advocate for the early childhood field, campus childcare programs, student parents, and early childhood professionals to elevate the importance of early learning, support student success, and promote the professionalization of the field.
- Ensures that the philosophy and practices remain current with best practices, research, and industry trends in early care and education, campus childcare, and student parent support to promote high-quality, developmentally appropriate care and ensure that services effectively meet the evolving needs of children, families, and the campus community.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of best practices, classroom environment design and age-appropriate guidance and expectations for children aged six weeks to five years and their families.
- Ability to meet requirements of Wisconsin Licensing Rules (DCF 251) for physical exam and criminal background check, and other DCF training requirements upon hire and ongoing as required under licensing and/or accreditation standards
- Ability to make sound operational, management and financial decisions that support institutional goals, budget accountabilities and an effective work unit.
- Knowledge of relevant city, state, and national regulatory standards relevant to early care and education, including but not limited to childcare licensing, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Wisconsin Shares, YoungStar, city and national accreditation.
- Meets requirements of WI Licensing Rules for Group Childcare Centers (DCF 251) for physical exam, TB skin test, and criminal background check both upon hire and on ongoing basis. Achieve within 3 months and maintain current certification in first aid and CPR.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift 50 pounds minimum.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree
- 0 - 2 years with relevant and professional experience.
- Requires Registry Administration, Leadership Credentialed or equivalent within 3 years. Requires CPR/1st Aid; satisfactory completion of DCF physical exam (upon hire); and satisfactory status in the DCF/DOJ fingerprint background check prior to hire and every 5yrs as well as annual DOJ name-based background checks.
