Job Summary:
The Project Engineer leads the execution of New Product Development (NPD) projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery of technically compliant fenestration systems. This role combines engineering fluency with project ownership. The Project Engineer assumes project scopes, budgets, timelines and cross-functional coordination.
As a central point of accountability, the Project Engineer ensures alignment between engineering intent, manufacturing feasibility, testing validation, and commercial readiness. This role is a key contributor to the development of a scalable, disciplined approach to project execution within the department.
RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will:
Project Ownership
- Drive the full lifecycle of assigned projects from concept approval through commercialization.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with gate review milestones.
- Own project budgets including prototypes, testing, tooling, and third-party costs.
- Ensure deliverables are completed in full and on time (OTIF) in alignment with strategic objectives.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the primary engineer, and liaison between design, testing, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, and field operations.
- Lead project meetings, status reviews, and stakeholder updates.
- Facilitate design handoff meetings, fabrication reviews, and test readiness checkpoints.
- Develop and coordinate on-site/off-site test preparations and installation strategies.
Technical Integration
- Maintain deep understanding of system design, performance criteria (thermal, structural, water/air), and applicable industry standards (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFRC).
- Review and validate test plans, test unit configurations, and installation strategies.
- Ensure lessons learned and validation outcomes are fed back into design iterations, process evaluations and system documentation.
Governance and Reporting
- Maintain project documentation, including RAID logs, and risk assessments.
- Prepare status reports and executive-level summaries as needed.
- Support continuous improvement of project governance tools, templates, and processes.
Also note:
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong command of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
You have:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or related).
- 5+ years of experience in product development, project engineering, or technical project managementpreferably in the building envelope, fenestration, or manufacturing industries.
- Understanding of product testing protocols, material behaviors, fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, performance reports, and testing data.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or coursework in project management (PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile knowledge beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and/or doors preferred.
- Collaborative mindset with a bias toward action and ownership.
- Comfortable leading in ambiguity while building structure.
