Position Summary
The City of Dania Beach is committed to employing a talented and diverse workforce. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Equipment Operator II within our Storm Water team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing semi-skilled labor-intensive tasks in grounds, service, maintenance, and construction activities for the City. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and effective operation of light-to-medium-sized equipment to perform assigned duties. Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs routine cleaning, inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and reports defects, maintenance and repair needs to appropriate staff for resolution.
- Performs general custodial tasks such as picking up debris and cleaning areas in and around shop areas, office buildings, parking areas, and other assigned facilities/grounds.
- Performs a variety of duties including operating equipment for excavation, construction and maintenance purposes, e.g., ditches, roads, streets, grounds, parks, construction, utilities systems.
- Operates various trucks and equipment in the loading, hauling, and transfer of refuse, materials, and supplies.
Qualifications
What's required:(Minimum Requirements)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of previous vocational training and work experience in the safe and effective operation of a wide variety of trucks and light maintenance and construction equipment. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
- Possession of a valid Class "B" CDL driver's license with overall good driving record required.
- Knowledge of city, state codes and OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of construction, utility maintenance, asphalt repairs and concrete.
What's preferred: (Desired Requirements)
- Two (2) years of previous Vac Truck work experience
- Two (2) years of experience installing drain systems.
- Storm water level III Certification.
