Position Overview: The Senior Civil Engineer will play a critical role in the design, management, and oversight of transportation infrastructure projects for a Public California Transportation agency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing design criteria, managing design processes, and providing technical support throughout all project phases. Additionally, the candidate should be proficient in working on active construction projects, reviewing RFIs (Requests for Information), and Design Variances, while also possessing the ability to oversee technical studies to support project objectives. Key Responsibilities: Development of design criteria for transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and client requirements. Manage the design process from conceptualization to completion, including the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates. Provide oversight and review of design deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project goals and objectives. Collaborate with internal teams, client representatives, and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and coordination throughout the design and construction phases. Work closely with project managers to develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery. Participate in the review and resolution of RFIs and Design Variances during the construction phase, addressing technical issues and ensuring compliance with design requirements. Support and oversee technical studies, such as traffic impact analyses, environmental assessments, and geotechnical investigations, to inform project decision-making and design solutions. Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to transportation engineering, incorporating relevant advancements into project designs and methodologies. Uphold the company's commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship in all aspects of project work. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California. 10 years of experience in transportation infrastructure projects, with a focus on design management and oversight. Proven experience working with California agencies on transportation projects, familiarity with agency standards and procedures. Strong technical expertise in civil engineering principles, including roadway design, drainage, and utilities. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Experience in leading technical studies and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
