Lead all of the engineering technicians organized within the Powertrain and Electronics design team. This lead position will directly manage around a dozen technicians working across all equipment/disciplines within Powertrain and Electronics: Motors, batteries, power electronics, power distribution, and compute systems.
The technical work is spread across fabrication, mechanical assembly, electronics, thermal systems, and software/control systems. This lead position also has responsibility for selecting and providing appropriate tools, process, facilities, and continuous improvement of the team. This is a service oriented team that is set up to support design and production. As such you will build the necessary relationships and interface with many different teams, juggling priorities across all projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities- Selecting and providing appropriate tools, processes, facilities, and continuous improvement of the team
- Recruit/hire, organize, motivate, manage, grow, review, correct, and re-shape the team
- Lab space setup and sustaining management of lab spaces and tools
- Manage a team responsible for:
- Prototyping of new designs
- Test execution support during the prototyping stage
- Teardown and root cause for test failures
- Participate in the design engineering improvement process
- Transition prototype designs into production and provide tooling, documentation and training for production teams
- HS Diploma or GED
- 8+ years of working experience in relevant industry
- Previous lead or management experience
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and maintain high standards of work
- Team oriented attitude
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving techniques and analytical ability
- Experience with fabrication and assembly of electromechanical systems.
- Formal training in an electrical or mechanical trade
- Experience with industrial environments and procedures
- Experience working on high voltage systems, battery systems and/or complex electromechanical systems
- Proficiency with machining, welding and electronics assembly
- Experience with test and measurement equipment
- Familiarity with CAD and PLM/PDM systems
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $145,100 - $193,500/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
