Job Summary and Key Responsibilities: CNC Plasma operator

1. The CNC Plasma Operator at Concept Steel is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC plasma cutting equipment used to produce custom metal components according to precise specifications and drawings.
2. This role involves working in a fabrication shop environment, handling heavy materials, and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsibilities include setting up and operating CNC plasma cutting machines according to technical drawings and work orders.
2. The role involves loading and unloading steel plates and cut components, often using a forklift. Checking material grade, thickness, and size, and managing material flow are also key tasks.
3. Quality control is essential, requiring inspection of finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and performing checks during production.
4. Depending on the role, programming using CAM software and creating drawings with CAD software may be required.
5. Basic maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery, including preventive maintenance and replacing worn consumables, are part of the job. Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean workspace are mandatory. Collaboration with other team members like welders and fabricators is important for workflow efficiency. Accurate documentation of production, quality control, and time is also required.

Qualifications:

1. Typically, proven experience operating CNC plasma cutting tables or similar equipment is needed.
2. Experience with welding and fabrication can be beneficial. Technical skills include the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
3. Familiarity with CNC software (CAD/CAM) is a plus, and knowledge of metals and cutting techniques is valuable. Proficiency with precision measuring tools is also required.
4. Soft skills like strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and good communication are important.
5. The ability to work independently is often necessary. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods, and potentially operating a forklift.
