    REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

    JOB GOAL : A Building Maintenance responsibilities of ensuring a building's functionality, safety, and upkeep. This includes performing preventative maintenance, repairing equipment, addressing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues, and conducting routine inspections. Building maintenance workers also handle tasks like replacing fixtures, minor carpentry, painting, and landscape maintenance

    OVERVIEW : EastSide Charter School (K-8, founded in 1997) is a free, public school that collectively educates approximately 500 students across the campus in Wilmington. Eastside prides themselves on being a community-based school, using multiple partnerships, strong relationships with families, and a having dedicated and hard-working staff to ensure academic success for all students. Since 2011, EastSide has undergone a significant turnaround. Growing an average of 30 proficiency points in Math and Reading, EastSide has been touted by Delawares governor and the Delaware Department of Education as a model for school turnaround and urban school success. In 2025, we officially opened the first Stem Hub in the city of Wilmington. As a result of our desired success, we hope to improve our communities by ensuring that our students develop the character and skills necessary to being an influential and contributing member of the community and global society. This position is suited for someone who is willing to do Whatever it Takes to support our students in being successful in school and in life.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    The Building Maintenance Person will:
    • Preventative Maintenance: Implementing regular checks and procedures to minimize potential problems.
    • Repairs: Fixing faulty equipment, components, and structures, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
    • Building Inspections: Regularly inspecting buildings, systems, and equipment to identify potential issues and safety hazards.
    • General Maintenance: Performing tasks like painting, flooring repair, carpentry, drywall repair, and window washing.
    • Landscape Maintenance: Assisting with landscaping tasks as needed.
    • Equipment and Appliance Installation: Installing or setting up new equipment and appliances.
    • Safety Procedures: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
    • Work Order Management: Managing work orders, documenting maintenance and repair tasks, and tracking inventory.
    • Teamwork: Collaborating with other maintenance team members and contractors.
    • Communication: Reporting issues to maintenance managers or clients and following instructions.

    Experience:
    at least three years experience working in a school-like setting
    at least three years of custodial/ building maintenance experience

    COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION:

    Length of Work Year: 12 months, select Saturdays, and occasional evening and weekend commitments will be required. 24/7 Emergency Response(on call) required.
